Fair Geraldine

I've been playing with dolls since I was a child, and I see no reason to stop now that I'm all grown up. After years of collecting Barbie, Gene, Candi Girl, and Blythe, I bought a sewing machine and learned how to sew so that I could make my own clothes for these dolls. I particularly love vintage and retro designs. By making outfits for my dolls I can play Fashion Designer without the stress, deadlines, and back-stabbing co-workers that I imagine dominate the real fashion industry (which would eat me up alive - really!).

Although I have always loved fashion, I knew I wasn't cut out for the fashion industry (again, because those people would eat me alive!). Originally from Long Island, I trained instead as a fashion and costume historian in New York City, preferring the less hectic pace of the museum world. For many years I worked curating the historic dress collection of a small local museum a few towns away from where I lived. Today I only dabble in costume history part-time, so making miniature versions of vintage clothing keeps alive my passion for fashion.
